We've been underground with the cataphiles, toured the water plant that houses all the objects for the Museums of Paris, attended the invite-only Paris white party (Dîner en Blanc ), visited the Maison de Verre and spent the holidays on the private island that inspired the Black Island of Tin-Tin lore.

Advice

  • Don't be afraid to ask people you meet questions--you never know if a single question will lead you to something hidden or provide an angle you didn't see before.
  • Get to know Parisians--they might seem wary of you at first, but once you get to know them they'll show you the best places.
  • Get to know other writers in Paris--it's a great network.
  • Invest in a nice SLR camera--you won't be sorry!

What Does Your Blog Focus on? What makes it unique?

The blog focuses on untapped locations from a photographic and historical angle, digging deep into things off the beaten path. We take you to places rumored and places true, locales abandoned and avenues prosaic; but always—cool.

Why Did You Start Your Blog?

I started the blog after moving to Paris to study architecture with Columbia University. I ended up staying much longer than expected and decided to expand the Untapped websites to Paris. Having grown up in New York, Paris provided a completely new and inspiring angle to my work.
