Built between 1242 and 1248, the Sainte-Chapelle is one of Europe's outstanding examples of high gothic architecture, and is particularly noteworthy for its stained glass and rose windows. The upper chapel depicts a total of 1,113 biblical scenes in 15 stained glass windows. Each painstakingly crafted panel tells a story.
In this shot, you can see the 15th-century Western Rose window above a painted scene depicting the tale of the Apocalypse as told in the biblical book of St. John.
