The downside of taking the train? Direct night trains from Vienna to Paris are scarce, so you should be a big lover of this mode of transport.

How to Drive From Vienna to Paris

In smooth traffic conditions, it can take 9-12 hours or more to get to Paris from Vienna by car, but it can be a nice way to see stretches of Austria, Italy, Germany and/or Eastern France. Expect to pay somewhat hefty toll fees at several points throughout the trip, though.
