Starting February 10th, and guaranteed to lend a splash of much-needed color and vibrancy to a city still steeped in wintery quiet, Chinese New Year festivities are on their way in Paris. The Franco-Chinese community-- and Parisians of all backgrounds-- are celebrating the year of the Water Snake from the 10th through the 17th of the month with traditional, ultra-colorful parades set to take the streets by storm in several areas of the city. Dramatic dragons, red lanterns, paper fish, dance troupes and firecrackers populate the lively processions which wind through Paris and wake locals up from their semi-hibernation.
