August in Paris

Sunday August 5, 2007

It may not quite be the "cemetery" that the Washington Post recently likened it to, but Paris in August is certainly one of the most relaxed times of the year. With a fair percentage of locals out of town on vacation, the city of light becomes even more of a tourist's playground than usual. With scores of open-air festivals, top-rate exhibits, and special summer events on around the city, you'll have no trouble finding things to do, whether you're traveling alone, with kids, friends, or as a couple.

Read our guide to Paris in August for an outlook on weather and advice on what to pack. Then consult our guide to the best August events in Paris to decide how best to enjoy the city during this deliciously languid month.
